The Riachuelo is the one of the most polluted river of Latin America. In 2006 every day were thrown 368 thousand cubic meters of sewage and more of 88 thousand cubic meters of industrial chemicals into the Riachuelo. There are not actualization of this number to today. This ecological disaster begun two centuries ago. The Ecological Coordination Metropolitan area Society of the State (CEAMSE in spanish), from an agreement with the Undersecretary's office of Hydric Resources, takes care to retire the superficial sweepings of the Riachuelo. It is collected with floating barriers that can do strips of up to 30 or 40 meters of floating garbage. Per month they remove more than 200 tons

Area Metropolitana Sociedad del Estado (CEAMSE), a partir de un convenio con la subsecretaría de Recursos Hídricos, se ocupa de retirar la basura superficial del Riachuelo. La retiene con barreras flotantes donde se acumulan franjas de hasta 30 o 40 metros de largo que se limpian por periodos. Por mes se juntan más de 200 toneladas. 2006
